Advice for great bridge photographs

When you marry a structural engineer, there is an implicit commitment in the vows:

“I will not grumble when you pull the car over to take photos of bridges.”

Ask my wife. Anyway, Tallbridgeguy links to an interesting article about taking great bridge photos that I couldn’t resist archiving here for posterity’s sake. This guide leans more on the artistic—less on the bridge inspection/consulting job—side of things. Here it is:

In honor of this link, here is one of my own photos of the Brooklyn Bridge, taken on one of those New York harbor tours in 2004. I can personally vouch for the author’s advice to “wear warm socks” as it was freezing this day.
